One of the art world’s top ladies died this morning in her home of natural causes - Ann d’Harnoncourt. Ann d’Harnoncourt spent part of her life as the chief executive of the Philadelphia Museum of Art and a very influential person in the modern art community. Since 1972, she has been with the Philadelphia Museum of Art and will be extremely missed by all the people there.

Someone with such a love of art makes you wonder how could a person get up to the level of Ann d’Harnoncourt in the art communtity — especially as a career. Obviously you need to start at a good art school…but how would you choose the right art school to go to? Also, do you need to go to some kind of art college in order to make it as an artist?

I would say, yes….enroll in a good art school! There are many things that will benefit you in going to a good art college. It will bring you into a good of like minded people that you can be inspired from. Those people may also be into different forms of art that you have never been exposed to and can learn from. It can teach you various industry standards — an art degree equals the edge over the competition when going after the perfect job position.

So if you want to be an artist art school is not an absolutely necessity but it will certainly give you quite an advantage!

She certainly helped art in America. The Philadelphia Museum of Art was one of the oldest museums in the country. It has some of the richest culture in the country, and Philadelphia has a lot of art.
